Being a Carbon Neutral Organisation
Being a sustainable and impact focused organisation is a journey, not a destination, but becoming a certified Carbon Neutral Organisation marks a significant milestone on that journey.
We chose to be certified by Climate Active Australia; the Federal Australian Governments certification body. It’s known as the gold standard in Carbon Neutral certification with rigorous testing and benchmarking processes.
This process exposes both our areas of strength and weakness across our business. It shines a light and ensures we’re not just talking the talk but that our actions make a positive impact.
First Australian Coffee Roastery to be CNO
We’re proud to be the first coffee roaster in Australia to be certified a Carbon Neutral Organisation ™ by the Australian Government-backed Climate Active program.
Gaining our Carbon Neutral Organisation certification alongside our B Corp certification and 1% for the Planet membership put us into a very small group of purpose driven and impact focused organisations.
With globally only a few achieving all three credentials. As you can imagine we’re pretty proud but we certainly couldn't have done it without the support of our staff, customers and community.
Offsetting our carbon footprint
In 2021 we choose to support a hydropower project in India that has a positive global impact. This project focuses on renewable energy generation and directly helps migrate communities away from heavily-polluting, coal-powered electricity generation.
As part of this program, we're able to purchase 3,105 verified carbon units to offset our CO2 emissions. Alongside this action we’re also planting 1000 native, regional specific trees in the NSW Snowy Mountains region.
We’re collaborating with fellow 1% for the Planet members, Keep It Cool, and as a team heading down in April of 2022 to get our hands dirty and get some trees in the ground.
