Fátima Mercedes Maradiaga Rodriguez, once a schoolteacher, made her childhood dream come true in 2007, naming her plot after her own nickname, "La Reina" (The Queen). Alongside her partner in beans, Gerardo Manuel Peñalba Urquía, they follow the advice of IHCAFE technicians, striving for top-tier coffee practices with an eye on sustainability. Their hard work paid off with an impressive entry into the 2023 Honduran Cup of Excellence.
This batch, treated with a honey process, starts with hand-picked cherries, sorted and depulped, then given a gentle ferment. After a careful solar dryer dance for 15 to 21 days, it hits the export-ready sweet spot at 10.5% moisture.
