Remera Espresso 250g

This unique micro lot originates from approximately 50 smallholder farmers cultivating coffee in the elevated hills encircling Remera washing station, situated within the Gaseke Sector of Nyamagabe District, in Rwanda’s Southern Province. These farmers are affiliated with the Tuzumurane Farmer’s Group, a compact association supplying coffee to Buf Coffee company, the proprietors of Remera and three other washing stations. Unlike the majority of Rwandan washing stations, which source cherry from a multitude of small-scale landholders, the Tuzumurane collective—its name meaning ‘support each other towards self-resilience’ in the local Kinyarwanda language—not only guarantees individual processing but also offers mutual assistance during the busy harvest period.

To ensure their coffee is unique and processed distinctly, the producers have coordinated cherry deliveries to the washing station on specific days of the week. By selling their coffee as a distinct lot, they directly reap the benefits of any premium prices offered for their produce, resulting in increased earnings to sustain their families. This arrangement fosters a strong incentive for collective effort towards achieving exceptional quality, evident in the nuanced and pristine flavour profile of their coffee.
